'I am a visual artist based in Sussex, working across a range of media and processes to explore the collision of art, science, nature and technology. Over nearly 20 years I have undertaken numerous artist-led projects, exhibitions and residencies, collaborating with scientists, geologists, ethicists and academics to develop the research which informs my work. Alongside my artistic practice, I co-founded Blue Monkey Studio in Eastbourne in 2003 and artists' development organisation Blue Monkey Network.'

SHIFT-SWAY-TIP-TILT (TOGETHER / APART)
2017-2020

Filmed on Eastbourne beach in 2017 the video records some of the regular movement of more than 60,000 tons of shingle along the beaches as part of the constant process of coastal defence. Revisited and edited in 2019-20 during the pre-Brexit period of political turmoil, environmental crisis, and a rising tide of xenophobia, the footage takes on new meaning as the split screen and mirrored images create the illusion of forces pushing against each other as the earth itself appears to be in motion.
